Trail Signs and Markings in the Terrain
The comprehensive development of Tahko’s outdoor trail network began in autumn 2023, and the next phase is a complete renewal of the trail signage. New signs will be installed in the terrain during summer 2026.
The digital map also includes routes that will not be marked with physical signs. For example, the gravel and touring cycling routes are available in digital format only. Detailed route descriptions and GPX files for the gravel cycling routes can be found in the digital route service.
Summer Routes
Summer routes are marked with brown-background signage. Tahko has five
signposted loop routes, all of which can be walked in either direction, even
though the signs point in one direction only. The exception is the Rahasmäki
route, which is signposted in both directions.
The loop routes use the following colour coding:
Green — Huutavanholma Loop (on foot)
Yellow — Kettukangas Loop (on foot)
Red — Tahkomäki Loop (on foot)
Pink — Tahko Star Route (on foot)
Orange — Rahasmäki Loop (on foot, by bike)
Winter Routes
Ski tracks, winter cycling and hiking routes, and snowmobile routes are marked with blue-background signage.
A few things to note for winter use:
- The Huutavanholma route and the Mäkiautionrotko walking routes are accessible in winter at your own risk. These routes are not maintained
during the winter season. - There are no separately marked snowshoe routes. Snowshoeing is permitted on winter hiking routes or in the vicinity of ski tracks, winter cycling routes and snowmobile routes — but not on the ski track itself. The map’s location service helps you navigate your position in relation to the trail
network.
